Health, education, and shelter — three pillars of human dignity. Through targeted welfare programmes, we stand beside the most vulnerable in our communities, ensuring no one is left behind.
Siddhartha Foundation's charity work is grounded in a simple conviction — that every person deserves good health, the chance to learn, and a safe place to rest. From our home in Pallimon, Kollam, we extend compassionate, practical support to individuals and families navigating hardship across the region.
Our welfare programmes are not charity in the transactional sense — they are acts of solidarity. We work alongside communities to understand the specific conditions that keep families in cycles of poverty and poor health, and we design interventions that address root causes rather than symptoms alone. Whether it is a free health camp for daily-wage workers, a scholarship for a bright student whose family cannot afford school fees, or repair assistance for a family sleeping under a leaking roof — each initiative is shaped by listening, trust, and the belief that every life has equal worth.
Over five years of welfare work, we have partnered with local doctors, teachers, government bodies, and hundreds of volunteers to build a safety net that is both generous in spirit and rigorous in delivery. Our three focus areas — Health, Scholarships, and Housing — represent the pillars that, when strengthened together, give a family the foundation to thrive.
Access to quality healthcare remains one of the deepest inequalities in rural Kerala. Daily-wage workers, the elderly, and marginalised communities often face medical conditions that go undiagnosed and untreated simply because care is unaffordable or inaccessible. Siddhartha Foundation works to close this gap through regular health camps, medical assistance programmes, and wellness awareness initiatives — bringing care directly to those who need it most.
Education is the most powerful engine of generational change — yet for many families in our communities, financial hardship forces children out of school or prevents young people from pursuing higher education. Siddhartha Foundation's scholarship programme identifies deserving students, removes financial barriers, and walks alongside them through their academic journey with mentorship and support beyond just funding.
We believe in merit, but we also believe in circumstances. Our scholarships assess both academic promise and financial need, ensuring that a student's potential — not their family income — determines their future. From school-level support to assistance with professional and vocational courses, our programme covers the full spectrum of educational need.
Our scholarships are open to students residing in Kollam district and surrounding areas of Kerala. Applicants are assessed on academic performance, family income, and a short written statement about their goals and aspirations. We give additional weight to students who demonstrate community involvement and a commitment to giving back.
Applications open each June before the academic year. Decisions are communicated within six weeks. All selected scholars receive both financial support and access to our wider mentorship network.
Contact Us to ApplyAdequate shelter is a fundamental human right — yet across Kollam and its surrounding areas, many families live in structurally unsafe homes that expose them to the elements, particularly during Kerala's intense monsoon season. Elderly individuals, widows, people with disabilities, and daily-wage workers are most at risk. Our housing programme addresses this directly through repair assistance, reconstruction support, and partnership with local tradespeople and government schemes.
We do not simply provide materials — we coordinate the full process: assessment, planning, material procurement, skilled labour, and follow-up visits to ensure that every home we touch remains liveable and safe for years to come.
Support Housing Work
For a 68-year-old widow in Pallimukku whose roof had leaked through five monsoons, a team of Siddhartha Foundation volunteers and local carpenters completed a full roof replacement in two days. Her words — simple, quiet, and deeply moving — remind us why this work matters.
Over a hundred families in Kollam district have stories like hers. Each one represents a home made safe, a family's dignity restored, and a community that chose not to look away.
Every figure represents a family reached, a student supported, a home made safer.
Our welfare work is guided by the same values that define all of Siddhartha Foundation's programmes: deep listening, sustained commitment, and respect for the intelligence and agency of the people we serve. We do not parachute in with solutions — we build relationships over time, understand individual circumstances, and respond with care that is both immediate and lasting.
Each year, we review and expand our welfare reach — identifying new areas of need, building new partnerships, and finding new ways to extend our support. If you know of a family in need, we invite you to reach out.
